Our K-12 school customers are using frevvo to automate routine processes and improve efficiency and services to students and staff. EUSD (Escondido Union School District) has been so successful at this – they’ve automated 8 approval workflows including Absence Records, Mileage Reimbursement, and Budget Transfers in the first three months – that they were even able to decommission SharePoint/InfoPath thanks to frevvo.
The fact is, schools are drowning in paper. Student work, parent & staff communications, travel reimbursements and many other processes are paper-based and require, emailing, printing and scanning. Going paperless doesn’t have to mean costly initiatives like 1:1 education, e-textbooks and expensive gadgets for each student. There’s plenty of much lower-hanging fruit that’s ripe for automation and saving paper, time and money.
frevvo already has pre-built forms and workflows that can be customized in next to no time and deployed online. They can all be signed online, routed to the proper person electronically, used on mobile devices, delivered in multiple languages, generate PDFs, work with Google Apps for Education and a whole host of advanced capabilities.
We’ve run into a number of situations where customers want to replace Infopath forms and SharePoint workflows with frevvo or maybe they just want to stop using their existing paper/PDF forms. But, they have large existing investments in a variety of Microsoft technologies and they want their automated workflows solution to integrate.
That’s where frevvo shines. We’re truly platform-agnostic and work equally well whether you prefer Microsoft or Oracle or Amazon. In Microsoft environments:
You can deploy frevvo on several versions of Windows,
Integrate with MS SQL Server to retrieve, store and update data,
Save documents and metadata to SharePoint,
Use Active Directory for identity and access management,
Run on an Azure Cloud VM,
Access frevvo forms and workflows with Internet Explorer on the desktop or from Windows phones.
And, with frevvo’s focus on the UI, you can be certain that your end users will end up with a fantastic and natural user experience on all devices and that they’ll actually use the applications you deploy with frevvo.
Humanetics produces a wide variety of innovative products including regulated and non-regulated crash test dummies, ranging in size from new-born infants to large adult human surrogates. They were using a mix of InfoPath forms, custom-built applications or e-mailing paper/PDF documents around for approvals. They wanted to standardize on a single product to automate their approval workflows starting with HR and I.T. then branching out to Purchasing, Shipping, and eventually to QA and other Departments.
With Microsoft discontinuing InfoPath and the general outdated appearance of InfoPath forms, it didn’t make sense to continue down that path. However, they have a significant Microsoft-based infrastructure (like many other companies) including Windows servers, Active Directory, SQL Server, Internet Explorer etc.
Humanetics looked at Adobe LiveCycle but quickly realized that it was prohibitively expensive and complex to use.
They chose frevvo Live Forms after a brief evaluation because:
It provides end users with a fantastic user experience on all devices yet is powerful enough to meet their unique business needs and create their customized forms/workflows.
It works with their existing Microsoft infrastructure including AD, SQL, IE, Windows, and SharePoint.
It’s easy to use, fast and affordable.
Are you looking for an alternative to InfoPath and SharePoint? Why not try frevvo free for 30 days today and find out how you too can start implementing game changing solutions?
Microsoft’s InfoPath essentially lets you create rich forms that work with SharePoint. What’s the future of InfoPath? Should we continue to use it? How does it work with SharePoint? What are our replacement options? So many questions …
Should you continue to use InfoPath?
The answer’s got to be an unqualified NO WAY. Microsoft’s announced that there won’t be a new version of InfoPath coming out. Ever! InfoPath 2013 is the last one. It’s great that it’ll work with SharePoint 2016 and be supported until 2023. Here’s the problem. It’s old technology today and has been old technology for many years.
You can create forms with it but, frankly, they suck. In 2015, do you really want to deploy applications with user interfaces like this? In fact, we’d suggest
Even if Microsoft was not discontinuing InfoPath, you shouldn’t even consider using it in this day and age.
And it’s even worse on mobile devices. Employees come in to work and deal with horrendous user experiences with their enterprise applications. But they’re also consumers. They use apps on their mobile devices at home everyday that have gorgeous, sexy UIs and are engaging and easy to use. No wonder 60% of employees abandon corporate mobile apps.
And you can still make use of your existing investments in Microsoft technologies. frevvo runs on Windows, works with SQL Server, integrates with Active Directory, works on Azure and can write your documents to SharePoint. A fantastic user experience that meets business needs. What’s not to love? Try frevvo today for free.
Certainly, there are third party products (such as Nintex or K2) that you can buy that work on top of SharePoint workflows and Microsoft even recently announced that InfoPath 2013 will continue to work with SharePoint 2016. But, should you continue to invest in InfoPath when even Microsoft isn’t?
Several customers have turned to frevvo precisely to solve this problem. We provide everything you need to digitize your day-to-day approvals – from collecting signatures, feedback and approvals using powerful, customized forms to workflows with routing, notifications, and escalations.
Check out this recent Case Study. Escondido Union School District had a number of PDF and paper forms for absence records, mileage reimbursement etc. that were being filled, printed, and hand-delivered for approvals & signatures. They did an exhaustive evaluation of numerous web-based workflow systems before choosing frevvo.
They’ve automated 8 approval workflows including Absence Records, Mileage Reimbursement, and Budget Transfers in the first three months. The District chose frevvo Live Forms over implementing these in an existing SharePoint install because it provided an easy-to-use solution that fully met business requirements at a fraction of the cost.
In fact, EUSD has decommissioned SharePoint as a result of their success with frevvo!
