This is another key insight from Salesforce’s 2016 State of I.T. report.

Four of the top seven pain points that I.T. leaders face are related to the skills gap. One-third of I.T. teams struggle to keep skills current.

We’re not surprised – it’s a common theme that keeps coming up. It is probably the single most important reason customers buy our product. They just don’t have enough skilled I.T. resources and the ones they have are too busy fighting fires like dealing with legacy systems or problems with the database. Talent not Security is now the #1 Cloud Challenge

talentIMHO, this is the most important insight from Rightscale’s 2016 State of the Cloud Survey. Lack of resources/expertise has supplanted security as the top challenge in cloud.

We see this in so many ways. It’s probably one of the most important reasons customers buy our product.

They’re simply don’t have enough talented I.T. resources. People are too busy maintaining legacy systems or worrying about the SQL database to spend time on automating the routine stuff, making it look beautiful and usable on all devices.
