These routine tasks end up wasting a lot of time. From chasing down colleagues and bosses for signatures to misunderstood and poorly defined processes to lack of 24×7 access on all devices, these tasks can be an expensive proposition.
We provide an Add-On for Confluence that lets you add forms, workflows and the associated task lists to Confluence. Users then simply logon to Confluence, go to the appropriate Confluence page, fill out the form that’s embedded on that page and Submit. frevvo will route as required, send notifications to the appropriate people and remind them if necessary. When the next person in the workflow needs to act on the request, he/she can approve/comment/reject directly in Confluence.
It’s as easy as that. It’s 2016! There’s simply no excuse for outdated, manual systems that cause delays, result in unhappy employees and wasted time and money.
In Part 3 of this series, we looked at how you can create a form or workflow and accumulate submissions on a Confluence page.
But, customers often want to create and update Confluence pages from frevvo forms for structured content. An example is an application to manage client contact information.
Let’s say you want to create a Confluence page for each client. The Confluence rich text editor is one way to manage these pages. But, it’s hard to keep the pages consistent, eliminate errors and enforce business constraints with the Confluence editor. That’s where frevvo comes in.
Instead of creating/updating these pages using Confluence’s editor, you can use a form. The form enforces structure, business rules, validation etc. When the form is submitted, frevvo will generate a Confluence page for the client; the page can be named using data from the form (e.g. client name).
frevvo can also generate an Edit link on the page. When clicked, it takes you back to the form pre-filled with the client data. You can edit the data and submit. frevvo will then update the client page with the updated data.
In Part 2 of this Series, we saw how to create a simple survey form in Confluence and view submission data or download it to MS Excel. But sometimes, people want to do more. They want to format the results as a table and add a graph, display the results in specific ways etc.
Confluence and its rich set of plugins is the ideal platform for this and with frevvo Live Forms you can now easily create forms [and even workflows] and collect submissions on a Confluence page. Finnair is one of the most innovative and longest-operating airlines in the world. The airline specializes in flights between Asia and Europe, and its vision is to be the number one airline in the Nordic countries and the most desired option in Asian traffic. At the end of 2013, Finnair employed 5,803 people.
Finnair has faced severe cost savings needs during the last several years as the industry structures have been changing. As a way of finding cost savings and means of increasing operational efficiency Finnair aimed to digitize its form processes and workflows. Consequently, minimizing the manual work in handling and correcting the paper forms, making the coordination of up-to-date form versions easier, ensuring correct workflows and archiving methods as well as increasing process lead times were essential objectives.

The first project in introducing Frevvo within Finnair was developing maintenance and safety report for Finnair Operations. In future, Finnair aims to develop new digital form processes (workflows) with frevvo Live Forms and to widen the use of the solution to other business areas.
The Road to Hybrid Cloud. The cloud computing model continues to create a larger and larger footprint in the IT landscape as enterprises pursue the model’s benefits including but not limited to: 1) shared resources 2) facilitated access to information and resources from anywhere on any device 3) on demand provisioning and reallocation of computational resources. The greatest benefits are typically achieved using public cloud services however most organizations are unwilling to put ALL their data (particularly sensitive information) into public cloud solutions. In order to still reap the benefits of the cloud computing model, organizations will implement some solutions on internal private cloud platforms.
What is Hybrid Cloud and How Does It Work. A hybrid cloud refers to an environment that runs both public and private cloud services AND provides a way to to share data between them. Typically the data shared with public cloud services is limited and secured/encrypted to reduce exposure. Exposing a server within your firewall to a public cloud service is not what we mean by hybrid. A hybrid cloud connects 2 or more internal and external cloud platforms in such a way that they can exchange information.
What Are the Advantages. A hybrid cloud allows organizations to leverage the efficiency gains of the cloud computing model without having to expose all their data to public cloud services by providing mechanisms to securely share data. Once mechanisms have been defined for exchanging data between internal and external cloud platforms, CIOs can incrementally control what data is exposed to public cloud solutions. The ability to integrate internal data with external/public cloud services is hugely beneficial (if not required) to leverage public cloud services in a compelling and useful fashion.
